The Channel Outlet Store (L'Usine Channel and not like brand "Chanel") in Coquelles is only five minutes from the centre of Calais and handy for the ferry and rail terminals of the English Channel (La Manche). Opened in 2003 as L'Usine Côte d'Opale, the Channel Outlet Store is now home to 55 factory outlets with both French and international brands all with discounts of 30% and over.
For British shoppers ‘hopping’ over the Channel many of the brands such as Adidas, Asics, Hugo Boss, Lacoste, Lee Cooper Jeans, Quiksilver and Tommy Hilfiger will be very familiar. Other international fashion brands such as Cotelac and Tom Tailor and French brands like Le Phare de la Baleine leisurewear and Anne de Solène homeware offer great designs not often seen in the UK.
Laid out in a semi circle, the Channel Outlet Store has a smart, contemporary feel and looks across a large park which gives a rather more relaxed atmosphere than some larger shopping malls. There is also a children’s play area for kids who tire of shopping. Watch out for the extra discount bargains that pop up in the ‘Entrepot’ area of the store from time to time - the store’s Facebook page is the best place to check when the best bargains will be around.
